CPN (UML) Chairman Oli says it is better to go for early election

KATHMANDU:  CPN (UML) chairman KP Sharma Oli has argued that it would be appropriate to go for a fresh poll if the House is not run regularly and the council of ministers is not expanded.

At an interaction program with journalists on Tuesday, Oli said that his party was ready to take part in the election provided that the current government announces the date for an early election.

“Invaluable time given for the House and people’s urge for stability and prosperity should not be wasted. In such a circumstance, it is better to go for an early election,” Oli reasoned.

He was of the view that holding elections in a democratic system was forward-moving, not regression. On the occasion, Oli criticized the government’s move to unveil a new ordinance on political parties with an intention to split the UML.

On MCC, Oli asked for a clear stance from the ruling parties adding that there was no point for the UML to take a position since the government had not consulted with his party.

Similarly, Oli assured to ensure 33 percent seat to women in the UML’s central committee and the decision would be taken in the party’s upcoming statute general convention.

On the occasion, editors and senior journalists asked whether Oli’s working style and conduct were responsible for the lack of unity in the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), the CPN (UML), and the failure of his government to complete a full five-year term.
