Ward Chairman arrested in murder allegation



JANAKPURDHAM: Police have arrested a ward chairman of Sabaila Municipality-4, Dhanusha on charges of murder.

According to Inspector Rajesh Sigdel, the in-charge of Area Police Office, Sabaila, Kusheshwor Thakur alias Pathala has been arrested on charge of beating a local Sumintra Devi Yadav to death in a dispute over road expansion in Sabaila Municipality-4.

Out of 10 accused of involved in killing of Yadav, the ward chairman was arrested on Saturday. Sumintra was injured in a dispute between the two sides during a search of Simasal while widening the road on April 26. She died at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar.

Locals Ram Chandra Biraji, Hrithik Yadav, Deepak Yadav and Ranjit Yadav were also seriously injured in the incident.

After Sumintra’s death while undergoing treatment, the family members had registered a case against the ward chairman and 10 others at the District Police Office, Morang.

During the investigation of the case, the Morang Police had sent the case to the Area Police Office, Dhanusha on May 30.

Inspector Sigdel informed that after intensified search, absconding ward chairman himself appeared before the court.
