NC district presidents end their relay strike



KATHMANDU: The district presidents of the Nepali Congress (NC), who were staging a relay hunger strike at party central office in Sanepa demanding to make public the details of their active members, have ended their relay strike.

Leaders picked to resolve the active membership dispute Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr. Minendra Rijal and Ramesh Lekhak reached the party office in Sanepa on Saturday evening and informed the district president that the demands were met.

Stating that all of their demands were addressed, leader Sitaula urged the district presidents to start preparations for the general convention.

The district presidents of Kathmandu, Udayapur and Sankhuwasabha were on a relay strike on Saturday as part of the relay strike started by the district presidents of Poudel’s faction from Tuesday.

They had begun the sit in demanding to make public active membership lists, eliminate controversial provisions regarding the candidacy of district presidents in the election guideline, and resolve active membership disputes as per the criteria.
