Ruling alliance meeting underway at Baluwatar

Focuses on cabinet expansion



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the coalition political parties is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC are taking part in the meeting.

The ruling coalition parties are holding a meeting at Baluwatar since 9 am this morning, said Prime Minister’s personal secretary Bhanu Deuba.

The meeting is focused on the latest political developments including the cabinet expansion. Currently, there are two ministers and one state minister from the Nepali Congress and two ministers from the Maoist Center in the Deuba cabinet.

The ruling parties are holding a meeting after the Election Commission granted the authenticity to the Yadav-Bhattarai faction of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).

Earlier, CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal had also participated in the alliance meeting.

As many as 22 lawmakers close to Nepal-Khanal faction had given the vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on July 18.

However, the faction is still undecided in regard to partaking in the government.
