CM Pokharel stresses on religious tourism promotion



POKHARA: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel has laid emphasis on the need of promoting religious tourism in Gandaki Province as it has the immense potentiality of religious tourism.

Pumdikot Development Committee is constructing the Mahadev temple at Pumdikot.

After inspecting the infrastructures including the under-construction Mahadev temple at Pokhara Metropolitan City-22 on Monday, Chief Minister Pokharel shared that the Province government would move ahead making a plan as tourism and agriculture is the basis of prosperity of the province.

He pointed out the need of developing area from Gajendramoksha of Nawalpur to Muktinath Devghat, via Devghat and Pumdikot having religious tourism importance of the Province as the religious corridor.

The Province government has allocated five million rupees for Pumdikot this year too.

Saying the construction of a road to Pumdikot should be kept in priority, Province government Finance Minister Ramji Prasad Baral mentioned that the government should further increase the budget for the construction of a temple at Pumdikot, established at religious tourism center.

Committee Chair Chandra Kanta Baral expected further support from the government level as Pumdikot is going to be developed as a tourism site attracting the tourists of the world.

Ministers—Kumar Khadka, Mekhlal Shrestha, Bindu Kumar Thapa, Chandra Bahadur Budha, and Deepak Thapa as well as province assembly members were present on the occasion.

The 55-meter tall idol of Mahadev has been constructed at Pumdikot.
