Kathmandu valley sees a rise in coronavirus cases on Monday

Valley alone has 8,508 active cases

KATHMANDU: Despite the government’s decision to relax the prohibitory orders imposed to curb and control coronavirus pandemic, the Kathmandu valley still has an alarming number of active cases of coronavirus.

According to Ministry of Health and Population, 514 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the valley in the last 24 hours.

There have been 355 cases in Kathmandu, 112 in Bhaktapur and 47 in Lalitpur today.

Ironically, on the day the Kathmandu administration decided to relax the prohibitory order permitting resumption of public transportation and opening of all kinds of shops from Tuesday, the valley has seen the highest number of cases of the past eight days.

More than 500 people have been found infected in the capital valley after eight days. The last time 548 people were infected in the Kathmandu Valley was on June 20.

According to the Ministry of Health,  there are 8,508 active cases of coronavirus in three districts of Kathmandu Valley till Monday afternoon.  Out of them there are 4391 cases in Kathmandu, 1732 in Bhaktapur and 2385 in Lalitpur.
