Municipal assembly of Temal rural municipality put off time and again

KAVREPALANCHOWK: Municipal assembly of Temal Rural Municipality has been put off time and again over disputes among assembly members on a budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2021/22.

The assembly that was recently called on June 27 was put off in lack of quorum.

The assembly was also postponed to June 24. A meeting of the rural municipality on June 18 had decided to present the policies and programs, and budget for the FY 2021/22 in the assembly scheduled for June 24.

The assembly was adjourned after the people’s representatives expressed disagreement over the proposal put forth by rural municipality chair Salam Singh Tamang to endorsed the budget, policies, and programs.

“We put our discontent to the budget & policies and programs as the chair unilaterally tried to run the local government breaching the act.

The chair ignored suggestions from majority members against the pact reached in the past,” reads a statement signed by 27 people’s representatives.

Chair Tamang commented that the rural assembly was put off due to technical issues. The rural municipality has nine wards has 49 people’s representatives (27 from the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre and the remaining from the Nepali Congress).
