KATHMANDU: The government has permitted public vehicles to resume operations from Tuesday.

The District COVID Crisis Management Center (DCCMC) of Kathmandu had earlier made a recommendation to this effect with the consultation with the health offices based in the districts.

Assistant CDO of Kalpana Ghimire Nepal said the DCCMC had recommended the CDOs to bring public vehicles into operations following consultation with health offices.

CDOs of three districts held a joint meeting on Monday and took the decision to this effect.

According to the decision, public buses with more than 25 seats will be allowed to operate in the Kathmandu Valley from 6 am to 7 pm.

The buses and other means of public transport are, however, required to follow health standards, keep sanitizer in the bus and maintain passenger distance in the seat.

Presuming that the impact of the relaxed lockdown would be seen only after one week, the CDOs of the Kathmandu Valley decided to allow public vehicles to resume operations on the odd-even rule at the beginning.

The prohibitory order has been imposed in the Kathmandu Valley to control COVID-19 since April 29.

The prohibitory order has been relaxed in recent days by allowing private vehicles on odd-even rule and shops in various sectors on the alternative days.
