KATHMANDU: Ministry of Home Affairs has said that assault on health workers during times of health crisis is an irresponsible and illegal act and the Ministry is committed to taking action against those involved in such incidents.
Issuing a statement Friday afternoon, Home Ministry condemned assaults on medical professionals, noting their invaluable service to the community amid Covid-19 crisis.
Relatives of a patient who died in course of treatment had manhandled health workers in Bheri Hospital Thursday night. Police have arrested three accused in the incident and are determining others’ involvement in the incident. The arrested have been identified as Man Bahadur Rawat, Bharat Rawat and Lokraj Rawat of Tulsipur, Dang.
Ministry Spokesperson Janak Raj Dahal said a probe committee was formed under the leadership of Banke Deputy Chief District Officer (CDO) to look into the incident.
Home Ministry has also directed CDOs of all 77 districts to give attention to safety and security of health workers.
