Newly elected NA member Devkota taking oath today

KATHMANDU: Newly elected National Assembly (NA) member Dr. Khim Lal Devkota is taking oath of office and secrecy today.

Devkota had been elected as a member to the NA through the by-elections held on May 20.

Devkota had been elected to the NA from Bagmati Pradesh by defeating his rival Ram Bahadur Thapa alias Badal. The NA member’s post lay vacant after Badal defected to ruling CPN-UML from CPN (Maoist Center).

UML had fielded Badal to the NA vacant post again.  However, he lost to Devkota who had jointly been fielded by Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), and Nepal-Khanal faction of CPN-UML and Yadav- Bhattarai faction of Janata Samajwadi Party.
