BHAKTAPUR: The district convention is taking place in Bhaktapur under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress today.
Incumbent Bhaktapur district President Durlav Thapa and Asta Kumar Kaway are vying for the post of NC district president.
There had been a tough competition between Thapa and Kaway even in the 13th General Convention. Thapa from the establishment side had defeated Kaway from the Poudel faction.
Equal representatives have been elected in ward, municipal, province and House of Representatives regional conventions from both the Deuba and Poudel factions.
Tough competition is likely between the two groups since almost equal number of representatives have been elected to the 14th General Convention of the NC.
