Incessant rain inundates most parts of West Nawalparasi including district HQ 



NAWALPARASI: Various parts of West Nawalparasi have been inundated due to incessant rains on Friday morning.

The Parasi Bazaar area has submerged after the flood of Jharai River entered the settlement. According to the police, rescue efforts have been hampered due to high level of water.

Similarly, various areas including ward no. 10 of Sunwal municipality have also been inundated.

According to locals, the floods have washed away food stuffs, clothes and livestock. Some people fled to the roofs and high places of the houses to save their lives due to the floods during the night.

A team of Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and Nepal Army have rescued the 21 people from the inundated area, said Rupa Kafle, a local. The flood victims have been kept in the building of Devkota Secondary School in Khakaribari.

Sunwal-3 has also been inundated. The bridge of Turiakhola at Sunwal on the East-West Highway is at risk. The vehicular movement from the bridge has been halted. Police said that the diversions made on the East-West highway could not be operated due to floods.

Meanwhile, various places of Bardaghat municipality have also been inundated. The Musahar settlement in Smritinagar of Ward No. 4, some settlements of Dhaulagiri area, Ward No. 6 have been inundated, informed ward chairman Tirtha Raj Faujdar.

Similarly, those inundated areas include Bijaypur, Bhagjogani, Gaidaha and Mauratari, ward no. 5, ward no. 12 and other areas of Bardaghat Municipality.
