Election Commission’s annual report presented in HoR



KATHMANDU: The annual report of the Election Commission of Nepal for fiscal year 2018/19 was submitted in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) here Tuesday.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, on the behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, presented the Commission’s report in the parliament. The constitution mandates that the government should annually present the annual reports of all the constitutional bodies to the parliament.

Condolence motion passed

Today’s meeting of the HoR passed a condolence motion on the demise of former member of the HoR, Bishnu Bahadur Tamang. The HoR members had observed a minute of silence to mourn the demise of Tamang and extended their tributes to the departed soul. The meeting also extended condolences to the bereaved family.

Tamang was elected from Siraha district’s constituency no 5, representing the then Janamorach in the general election of 1991. He died on June 3 this year while undergoing treatment.

Earlier, Speaker of the HoR, Agni Prasad Sapkota had read out the letter received from the Office of the President regarding the appointment of State Minister for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha. The HoR is meeting next on July 30 at 1 am.
