The Committe led by central member Ramesh Lekhak submitted the report to party President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba during a meeting of the office-bearers.

According to the probe panel, the number of active members of the NC has reached 852,711.

The seven-member probe committee has accomplished the task and handed over the report to Prime Minister Deuba after one and a half months.

Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is holding an office-bearers’ meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Budhanilkantha.

The meeting will also dwell on the preparations for the 14th General Convention of the party, informed Krishna Prasad Paudel, the chief secretary of the NC’s Central Party Office.

The ward convention slated for July 27 has been postponed. Today’s meeting is expected to reschedule the date for ward convention, said Poudel.

As many as 5,000 complaints had been lodged at the Committee. The Committee has not looked into the files of active memberships of Bara and Saptari districts. There are disputes over active memberships still in 125 wards.

The dispute over the active memberships is likely to affect the 14th General Convention of the party.

The 14th General Convention of the NC has been slated for September 1-4.
