Former Pakistani captain Afridi to play for Kathmandu Kings XI



KATHMANDU: Former captain of the national men’s cricket team of Pakistan, Sahid Afridi has joined the Everest Premier League (EPL) franchise T20 cricket tournament.

Afridi will be playing on behalf of the Kathmandu Kings XI in the tournament that will be held in the capital from coming September 22. At a press meet held here Monday, the Kathmandu Kings XI management made the announcement of having recruited the 46-year-old all rounder Afridi.

During his involvement with the Pakistani national team from 1996 to 2018, Afridi played 26 test, 398 one-day and 99 T20 matches. Afridi is also a regular player for almost all the franchise T20 cricket tournaments all around the globe.

Kathmandu Kings XI is one of the six franchise teams competing in the mega event to be held in the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Others taking part in the 4th edition of the EPL are defending champion Lalitpur Patriots, Pokhara Rhinos, Chitwan Tigers, Bhairahawa Galdiators and Biratnagar Warriors.
