KARNALI: The Karnali Province Assembly (PA) meeting has not taken place for the past two weeks.

The PA is not holding further discussions on the new budget unveiled for the fiscal year 2021/22 announced on June 15. The PA meeting has been postponed three times since the budget day after the CPN (UML) lawmakers obstructed the PA meetings.

The UML Province Parliamentary Party Leader Yamlal Kandel complained that their agendas were not heard in the PA and by the Karnali Province government. On Sunday, Kandel commented after Speaker Raj Bahadur Shahi commenced the meeting. He argued that the PA was trying to place UML in both the ruling and opposition status at once.

The intra-party dispute in the UML is deepened after its four PA members who were sacked by the party were reinstated from the Supreme Court. The meeting of the Karnali Province Assembly is postponed until July 2.
