KATHMANDU: Making a slight change in the time allocated for the hearing on the writ petitions related with dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR), the Constitutional Bench has decided to allocate one hand half hours to the lawyers of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota.
Speaker Sapkota has also been made an opposition in the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of HoR.
At the Constitutional Bench’s hearing on Sunday, Attorney General Ramesh Badal had asked about the time to be provided to the Speaker’s lawyers.
“We informed them that we could give them only one hour out of the 15 hours we got,” Attorney General Badal said, adding, “However, they did not agree. The Bench should resolve this as well.”
Responding to Badal Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana said that the bench would add half an hour to the one hour given to the speaker by the government. “Your time is 14 hours. We will add half an hour to debate on behalf of the Speaker,” Chief Justice Rana said addressing Attorney General Badal.
Five lawyers have registered their name to debate on behalf of Speaker Sapkota.
