Flood damages bridge over Karnali River disrupting transportation

KARNALI: The bridge over the Karnali River that links Tikapur in Kailali district and Rajapur in Bardiya district has been breached due to flooding.

As a result, transportation along the Postal Highway has been closed. The bridge has been depressed due to erosion on the river banks, said Sub Inspector of Police, Lokendra Chand, adding that the efforts were underway to reduce further risk.

The local people have blamed apathy of the concerned authority to control the erosion despite repeated calls in this regard.
