KATHMANDU: Province 2 Police Office has formed a three-member committee to investigate an incident captured on close-circuit camera (CCTV camera) and surfacing on social media.
In the video, DSP Pralad Karki is thrashing a surgical store staffer black and blue in order to enforce prohibitory order in Birgunj. Locals informed DSP Karki’s assaulted Approach Muhammad senselessly for clicking video of police while DSP Karki was patrolling the area.
The video raises questions on police conduct and its responsibility to make citizens safe.
Muhammad was seriously injured after Karki hit him with boots and baton.
SP Krishna Prasai is leading the probe committee into the incident.
The incident has made a mockery of the police slogan ‘Service with Smile’.
