KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel has put forward two alternatives to hold the party’s 14th general convention.
Speaking at a virtual program held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Nepal Press Union Thursday, he said party election could be held either though existing or currently finalized active members or by electing central members for one year term through active members of 13th general convention.
The NC has to hold its 14th general convention by mid-September to save the party’s legal legitimacy. However, the coronavirus situation and incomplete task of handing over active memberships in certain districts have posed challenges to the NC to hold its convention.
The general convention has been slated from August 23 this year.
Poudel said holding the convention seemed challenging at this point and the party had to start discussion on the modality of 14th general convention.
