HoR dissolution: Single bench of CJ Rana begins hearing writs



KATHMANDU: A single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana is hearing 19 writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

Of the total 30 writs filed against HoR dissolution, Chief Justice Rana will hear 19 writs today itself, according to the Supreme Court.

As many as 19 writs have been filed at the SC, seeking an interim order on the HoR dissolution.

A total of 146 lawmakers from Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), Yadav-Bhattarai faction of the Jatana Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Nepal-Khabal faction of CPN-UML have filed writs demanding reinstatement of the HoR.

The SC will hear the remaining 11 writ petitions on Friday through the Constitutional Bench.

As many as 30 writ petitions have been registered at the SC after President Bidya Bhandari announced the dates for mid-term elections by dissolving the HoR Friday night on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
