Gandaki PA session to continue Wednesday

KATHMANDU: Special session of Gandaki Province Assembly (PA) has been postponed for until 1 am Wednesday.

The special session had begun Monday to discuss and vote on a no-trust motion filed against Chief Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung.

Earlier, the discussion schedule on the no-confidence motion was adjourned for 20 minutes after the ruling party CPN-UML lawmakers obstructed the session by demanding PCR test of PA members.

The provincial Business Advisory Committee took a decision to conduct PCR test on all PA members by 5 pm Tuesday and continue the session Wednesday after receiving test reports.

UML provincial lawmaker Krishna Thapa informed that the PA Secretariat also decided to allow lawmakers testing positive for COVID-19 to vote on the no-confidence motion. However, COVID-19-positive lawmakers will not get the floor to speak.

Wednesday’s session of Gandaki PA will conduct voting on the no-confidence motion filed against CM Gurung.
