UML lawmakers obstruct Gandaki PA

Attempt to prolong province govt days in power

POKHARA: The discussion schedule on the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung in Gandaki Province has been postponed for around 20 minutes after the ruling party CPN-UML lawmakers obstructed the special session.

In today’s session of the Province Assembly called to discuss the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Gurung, UML lawmaker Rajiv Pahari obstructed the meeting demanding that the meeting should not be held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“When the government has sent the directives not to allow more than 25 people to convene due to coronavirus pandemic, it’s not rational to continue the session which involves more than 200 people at a place,” lawmaker Pahari said.

Other ruling party lawmakers concurred to Pahari’s opinion.

After the protest of UML lawmakers, Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari adjourned the meeting for 20 minutes.
