NC to lower party flag for three days to mourn Joshi’s death

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has said it will lower its party flag half-mast for three days to mourn the death of leader Nabindra Raj Joshi.

An emergency meeting of the central committee (CC) of the party held at the central party headquarters in Sanepa on Saturday decided to fly the party flag half-mast on March 28, 29 and 30 in all the party offices across the country.

“The emergency CC meeting held at the central party office in Sanepa decided to lower party’s flag half-mast for three days to mourn the death of leader Joshi,” said an NC’s central member.

Similarly, all party offices will remain closed on March 30 in honor of Joshi.
According to the decision, except a mourning assembly, no other programs will be carried out by the party for three days and a condolence book will be kept at all the party offices across the country for 13 days.

The emergency CC meeting chaired by President She Bahadur Deuba also observed a minute of silence after passing a condolence motion on the demise of Joshi.

Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, however, could not attend the meeting since he was stuck in Biratnagar due to bad weather.

Born on September 19, 1962, Joshi, who was rushed to Bir Hospital and then taken to the Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital  after he suffered brain hemorrhage a month ago, passed away in the course of treatment on Friday night.
