Justice Malla asks writ petitioners: How long should this case go?

KATHMANDU: Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan, one of the justices hearing the writs against the dissolution of the House of Representatives, has expressed concern over the prolonged hearing due to a large number of legal practitioners and the length of the case if they all participated in the debate.

After senior advocate, Sher Bahadur KC expressed his views against the dissolution of the House of Representatives before the Bench, Justice Malla asked how long the hearing should go.

“There are 300 legal practitioners in one case, how long will it take provided everyone takes part in the debate?” Justice Malla asked the writ petitioners gesturing the bench is aware of the public concern that the case may take a long time for settlement and added, “There are the concerns saying the court prolonged the hearing, how to manage the time in this situation?”

Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, one of the writ petitioners and a member of the dissolved House of Representatives replied that they were aware of the situation and added that a large number of advocates have filed their names considering the gravity of the issue.

He added that the petitioners have not paid anyone for debate.
