Urge to finalize Nepal-Romania labor agreement



KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Romanian Ambassador to Nepal Daniela Sezonov Ten paid a courtesy call on Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha.

During the meeting held at the Ministry on Thursday, matters of mutual relations and bilateral interests between Nepal and Romania were discussed.

During the meeting, Minister Shrestha urged Nepalis who want to go to Romania for employment have to go to New Delhi, India for visa application, and thereby urged the Ambassador to coordinate for facilitation from Nepal itself, according to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security.

He reminded that Nepal had drafted a bilateral labor agreement and handed it over to the Romanian government, urging him to help finalize and implement the agreement. In the last five years alone, 7,618 Nepalis have gone to Romania with labor permits.

During the meeting, Ambassador Daniela said that the Romanian government is ready to cooperate on the issues raised by Nepal,
