Nepal imports mobile phones worth 10 billion in two months

KATHMANDU: With advance of the festive season in Nepal, the import of mobile phones has hiked alarmingly. Nepal has imported cell phones worth 10 billion in past in two months.

According to the data released by the Customs Department recently, 1.4 mobile phones worth Rs 10 billion have been imported in the first two months of the current fiscal year 2021/22.

In between July 16-August 16 alone, 600,000 mobile phones worth Rs 4 billion were imported into Nepal.

According to the Custom’s data, a total of 1,498,765 mobile phones worth more than Rs 10.36 billion were imported in between mid-July and mid-September.
