Nepal-led CPN Unified Socialist bats for reviewing MCC compact

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has said that it is in favor of reviewing the US-grant assistance Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact.

At a press conference held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal told the media that the MCC compact should be revised.

He opined that the report prepared on MCC in the past should be used for making modifications and improvements in the agreement to the benefit of Nepal. He said, “We should make sure the MCC agreement is not part of any strategic plan, it is not targeted for use against foreigners, and that it does not hamper the interests of Nepalis.”
