SARLAHI: Ward chairperson of Ishworpur Municipality-3 Surya Kumar Shrestha has died after being hit by the bucket of an excavator.

Driver Harsha Bahadur Tamang struck Shrestha to death with the bucket of the excavator over a minor dispute, said SP Santosh Singh Rathore of District Police Office, Sarlahi.

SP Rathore said two people including excavator driver Tamang have been arrested for investigation.

According to Rathore, Ward Chairperson Shrestha had gone to Ishwor municipality-3, Bhaktipur to inspect a project where the beautification of a pond was taking place.

Contractor Prem Raj Dahal had also gone along with Shrestha to take stock of the project. The municipality had allocated the budget to give a facelift to the pond.
