ZAGREB: A Croatian man took away personal documents of some Nepali workers and forced them to work unpaid after assuring them that they would be able to live normally and freely once they receive work-permit.
The Croatian man will now face punishment for this wicked act, according to Total Croatia News.
Police officers working for the Organized Crime Service under the Split-Dalmatia Police Department have carried out a criminal investigation into a 58-year-old Croatian citizen under Article 106 (3) of the Criminal Code.
The investigation has concluded that the 58-year-old Croatian man committed a criminal offense by trafficking in four Nepali citizens and forcing them to work unpaid from December 2020 to June 2021 by taking advantage of their illegal stay.
“He didn’t pay them money for their work and he kept them living in inappropriate conditions,” the report said.
So much so that he took them to the island of Vis, forced them to work without monetary compensation under inappropriate working conditions at the cost of their health, safety, and dignity.
He also severely restricted their freedom of movement by confiscating their personal documents, hoodwinking that they would be able to move freely once they obtained a work permit.
After the criminal investigation was over based on a well-founded suspicion of committing the above-mentioned criminal offense, the 58-year-old Croatian man was handed over to the police.
