Top leaders urge China to provide vaccine immediately

KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali political leaders have urged the Chinese government to provide vaccines immediately.

Speaking at a virtual meeting organized by the Chinese Communist Party on Wednesday, top leaders called on the Chinese government to make arrangements for immediate vaccination saying Nepal needs vaccines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” said that the coronavirus infection had reached a high point and appreciated China for its support at a time when Nepal was reeling under a shortage of oxygen.

Prachanda said, “We expect the necessary assistance as there is still a risk of a similar shortage in the near future.”

He urged China to provide as many vaccines as possible to save the Nepalese people from the pandemic.

Likewise, UML General Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel urged China to provide vaccines against coronavirus.

Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav said that since coronavirus infection was on the rise in Nepal, the country needed vaccination at the earliest.

Nepali Congress leader Narayan Khadka urged China to provide vaccines and oxygen to save people’s lives.
