President Bhandari urges Chinese President Xi to facilitate purchase of vaccines



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to facilitate purchasing the necessary coronavirus vaccine.

She had a 40-minute talk with President Xi on Wednesday, according to the President’s Office.

President Bhandari said protecting the lives of the Nepalese people from COVID-19 has become the government’s topmost priority and responsibility.

“We are willing to purchase vaccines from China for the people here,” a source quoted President Bhandari as telling Chinese President Xi.

She further stated that Nepal has been an integral friend of China and hoped that China would respond to Nepal’s request for support.
