KATHMANDU: Transport entrepreneurs have warned that they will not halt vehicular movement if air service continues uninterrupted.

Transport entrepreneurs have raised objection to a decision made by Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu Valley to allow airline operators to run services while putting a complete stop to vehicular movement in the Valley.

The CDOs have forwarded a proposal to enforce a prohibitory order starting Thursday, which will also have a blanket ban on operation of public vehicles.

Federation of Nepali National Transport Entrepreneur General Secretary Saroj Sitaula raised question on the decision Monday. He is of the view that if planes are allowed to operate in full capacity then the same must apply to vehicles as well.

“We are ready to stop operating vehicles if it helps in containing the pandemic but we are not ready to accept the uninterrupted operation of flights,” Sitaula said, adding, “Whatever protocols airline operators embrace to run their services, we too can maintain that and continue service.”
