KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has refused to issue an interim order in the writ petition filed by CPN-UML leaders, including Madhav Kumar Nepal, demanding to stop the action against taken by party Chairman KP Oli faction against them.
A single bench of Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana on Monday refused to issue an interim order seeking stay of the proceedings, saying that no action has been taken against them yet.
On April 19, UML chairperson and parliamentary party leader Oli had demanded an explanation from the disgruntled 27 lawmakers, including leader Nepal, as to why they should not be removed from their posts.
Against this, four leaders, including leader Nepal, had demanded an interim order to deter the action against them and also to order not to take any further action.
“In the current situation, just on the basis of the explanation sought for the purpose of management of party’s internal affairs,” the SC order says, “It does not seem necessary to issue an interim order as demanded by the writ petitioners.”
The Supreme Court has demanded a written reply from the defendants in the writ petition filed against the Election Commission, UML Chairman KP Oli and others.
Similarly, the bench has ordered to give the case a priority as the nature of the issue has to be resolved soon.
