COVID-19: Govt set to ban all nocturnal activities post 9 pm



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to shut all kinds of nocturnal activities including gatherings post 9 pm fearing the second wave of COVID-19 in the country.

The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a nine-point directive to this effect on the recommendation of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC).

The ministry has also decided to step up vigil on the Nepal-India border checkpoints, and setting up a health desk at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for screening the health of foreign visitors in a bid to curb the increasing cases of COVID-19.

Ferrying patients infected with COVID-19 to an isolation center in a separate vehicle, banning gatherings, launching awareness programs about coronavirus and making educational institutes to comply with health safety measures are the other decisions taken by the ministry.

Nepal recorded a total of 120 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 2,76,509 in the country.

Currently,  1,217 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals and isolation centers. Meanwhile,  2,72,272 have recovered from the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Similarly, 3,020 people have died from COVID-19 so far, according to the ministry.
