CPN-UML holding PP meet at 3 pm

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting of ruling CPN-UML on Friday.

UML’s Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai said the PP meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 3 pm.

“The meeting will dwell on how to make the ongoing house session effective including development budget of lawmakers among others,” said Bhattarai.

The leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction has said they will not attend the PP meeting to be held at Baluwatar today.

Earlier, the Nepal-Khanal group had boycotted the PP meeting held in Baluwatar.

UML’s PP meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on March 20 had decided to take the statute amendment proposal to the party’s Central Committee (CC) and the CC meeting had passed the proposal.

On March 18, the party had formed a three-member statute amendment task force led by Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai.

The CPN-UML has fixed the date of its 10th General Convention and formed an organizing committee to this effect.

A meeting of the CC of the CPN-UML held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar Saturday (March 20) decided to hold the 10th General Convention on November 18-22 later this year.

Likewise, a decision was made to convert the existing 264-member Central Committee to the general convention organizing committee.
