Use of force over civil society’s demonstration ‘disappointing’: NCP (Prachanda-Nepal)

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (Prachanda-Nepal) Group has expressed displeasure over the use of force against a peaceful demonstration of civil society.

Issuing a press release this evening, NCP chairperson duo, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal, objected to the use of force against the demonstration the civil society staged in support of safeguarding the constitution and democracy.

The chair duo also expressed solidarity to the civil society for its activism and struggle for the protection of the constitution, House of Representatives, and democracy.

It may be noted that some demonstrators were injured in the civil society protest on Monday when the police personnel used water cannons to disperse the crowd in Baluwatar.

The two leaders wished for the speedy recovery of the injured in the protest, stated the press release.

The NCP also urged the government to respect the citizen’s fundamental right to peaceful protest and assembly and not to continue such acts in the future.

Meanwhile, NCP spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha enquired about the health condition of Nirgha Raj Jaishi who was critically injured in the civil society protest. Leader Shrestha also wished for a speedy recovery of the injured.
