MoU signed for biggest solar power project



KATHMANDU: A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Investment Board and the promoters company with the objective of conducting the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 250-MW solar power project, the biggest one to be built in the country so far.

Investment Board’s Under-Secretary and Spokesperson Ramesh Adhikari shared that an MoU was signed on Tuesday for conducting DPR for the solar power project which will have a 40-MW of battery storage plant.

CEO at the Board Sushil Bhatta and Development Manager of the Company Wang Jiyang inked the MoU for the same. The agreement has been made to forward the project by making it a joint sub-venture by Raison Energy in Singapore.

As per the MoU, two projects, each having 125-MW capacity, would be operated at Kohalpur, Banke, and Badhganga, Kapilvastu. The battery storage would be made in those places, each having a 20-MW capacity.

The DPR should be submitted to the Board within a year from the day MoU is signed, according to the Board. The meeting of the Board held on 19 June 2020 had granted permission to the company for the DPR.
