KATHMANDU: A contempt of court case has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday against Prime Minister KP Oli.

Advocates Kanchan Krishna Neupane and Dr. Kumar Sharma Acharya have filed separate suits against the Prime Minister.

The petitioners have claimed that Prime Minister insulted the dignity of the court through his remarks while the case against the dissolution of the House of Representatives is sub-judice at the apex court.

They have also quoted the remarks by the Prime Minister terming a lawyer as ‘grandfather lawyer’ for taking part in the hearing and jeering the ongoing hearing on the writ against the dissolution of HoR calling it a ‘spectacle’.

They have demanded maximum punishment as per Clause 17 of the Judicial Council Act 2073 BS.
