KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Sherdhan Rai has announced his candidacy for the post of secretary in the party’s 10th general convention.
The UML general convention kicks off Friday in Chitwan for the selection of new leadership and leaders of the party have gathered there.
Rai, who is also the former chief minister of Province 1, is preparing to run for the post of secretary.
After doing student politics and becoming district president for four terms, Rai was elected as a central member from the ninth general convention. He was also a member of the Politburo and became the Chief Minister of Province 1.
Stating that he always stood for party unity, he said, “His candidacy is something that is suitable.”
