KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association is doing a march-past from Supreme Court to Baluwatar this afternoon to mount pressure on political parties to impeach Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

In the march-past organized by the lawyers of Nepal Bar, civil society members, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Nepal Teachers Association (NTA), Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA), Nepal Public Health Association (NPHA), Nepal Medical Association (NMA) and Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) are participating in the protest rally.

Nepal Bar appealed to people in general to take part in the rally. Nepal Bar said it will stage a sit-in at the apex court and rally towards Baluwatar, said Nepal Bar Chairman Chandeshwor Shrestha.

The Nepal Bar has now started piling pressure on major political parties after Chief Justice did not budge from his stance due to the lack of support from the parties.

Nepal Bar on Monday handed over a memorandum to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina, CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Deputy Speaker Suba Nemwang, Chief Whip of CPN (Maoist Center) Dev Gurung among others.

Nepal Bar has said it will continue demonstrations until Chief Justice Rana steps down.
