KATHMANDU: Although CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam has been reticent about the formation of new party, his wife Tulsa Thapa has also joined the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN Unified Socialist Party.

According to sources, leader Thapa also reached Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday afternoon to verify her name as Wednesday to register with the EC for the registration of the CPN (Unified Socialist) party.

The commission had discussed the issue of identifying Maya Gyawali, Sarada Bhatt and Som Prasad Pandey along with Thapa.

However, it refused to identify them as Unified Socialist Party member citing her name was not there in the list sent to the Commission.

While the new party managed to get about 30 percent in the central committee, it failed to garner 20 percent in the parliamentary party.

Few days before Gautam had expressed his dissatisfaction at being described as Unified Socialist leader.

However, he has not shown himself in the UML meeting of late.
