PM expresses fury over attacks on President

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed outrage over the statement made by the opposition alliance against President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Speaking at a book launch program at his official residence in Baluwatar, he said the practice of attacking the president would put the republican system in crisis.

“I once said that an angry cat would bite a pillar. Now there is a competition to attack the president,” Oli said, referring to the leaders of the opposition coalition, who criticized the president Thursday. “Whoever attacks the president is of greater stature these days.”

He also claimed that the president has done nothing beyond her jurisdiction. “But I have nothing to say about them (opposition alliance). It may be their culture (to do so),” he said.

The PM accused the leaders of the opposition coalition of building an unruly society.
