One killed, 99 missing as high-rise building collapses in Florida



FLORIDA: At least one person died and dozens went missing after of a 12-storey residential building collapsed in Surfside near Miami, Florida, BBC reported.

The number of people who have been located now stands at 102, while 99 are still unaccounted for, according to Miami-Dade Mayor Danielle Levine-Cava.

It is unclear how many people were in the building when the incident took place and how the building caved in, affecting about half of the 130 units in the complex.

The block in the town of Surfside was built in 1980.

A number of Latin American migrants have been reported missing by their consulates.
