KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has condemned several news media for publishing news concerning Prime Minister KP Oli and Chief Justice Choldendra Sumsher Rana.
Issuing a press statement signed by SC Assistant Spokesperson Devendra Dhakal Tuesday, the SC has asked the concerned news media to correct their information, which as per SC is ‘fabricated’, and abide by journalists code of conduct.
Several media outlets published news stating that CJ Rana and PM Oli met in Baluwatar late Monday night.
The statement warned that publishing fabricated information regarding a case that is sub-judice at SC was against law and could bring the concerned under the jurisdiction of the law. Likewise, the statement appeals to the public not to be eluded by such fake news.
It also stated that the SC is committed to maintain public’s faith in the judiciary by discharging its duties and upholding the rule of law.
Earlier, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)’s Federal Council Chairman and former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai had expressed concern over the alleged meeting between PM Oli and CJ Rana.
