Govt won’t impose nationwide lockdown immediately: Foreign Minister Gyawali

KATHMANDU: The government has said Sunday that it will not impose lockdown immediately.

Talking to reporters after the meeting of the General Convention Organizing Committee of the ruling CPN-UML, Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali said that there would be no immediate lockdown across the country.

“Lockdown breaks the coronavirus spread rate, but it’s not a long-term solution. The economy is also in a state of turmoil, ‘said Gyawali.

Minister Gyawali said that the government’s focus would be on creating public awareness among the citizens and enforcing the health protocol issued.

Gyawali, who is also the UML spokesperson, said that party president and prime minister KP Sharma Oli had given strict instructions to party leaders at all levels to mobilize for the control of the coronavirus pandemic.
