KATHMANDU: An emergency meeting of the general convention organizing committee of the ruling CPN-UML has started at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Originally scheduled for 10 am, the meeting started two hours later due to the Standing Committee meeting that preceded it, informed SC member Subas Nembang.

The SC meeting took place to prepare the agenda for the emergency meeting of the general convention organizing committee.

“The SC members had discussed the agendas for the emergency meeting of the general convention  organizing committee meeting,” said Nembang.

The meeting will discuss the clarifications sought from 32 federal and provincial lawmakers close to Nepal-Khanal faction.

A meeting of the general convention organizing committee on Friday had entrusted the newly formed SC to take necessary actions against the Nepal-Khanal faction.

The meeting had also decided to strip the provincial lawmakers of their posts for not complying with the party whip in Karnali Province.
