NC holding office-bearers’ meeting today

To dwell on 14th general convention, fix agenda for CWC meet

KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has called an officer-bearers’ meeting on Sunday.

The meeting will be held at NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence today afternoon, informed NC’s Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel.

According to Paudel, the office-bearers’ meeting will dwell on the preparations of the 14th general convention, candidacy selection for by-elections and power sharing in central and provincial levels.

On May 20, the government is holding a by-election for the post that lay vacant in the National Assembly after CPN (Maoist Center) relieved Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa of his of parliamentary membership.

It is learnt that the meeting will also dwell on alliance with other parities to turn the tables in its favor.

NC will fix a candidate following discussions with the other parties after ruling CPN-UML decided to field Ram Bahadur Thapa.

The role of Nepal-Khanal is decisive for NC to win the by-election where the voters will be provincial lawmakers of Bagmati Province and chiefs of deputy chiefs of local nits.

There have been reports that representatives close to Nepal-Khanl faction are likely to cross the floor without casting votes for Thapa due to the intra-party feud.

The meeting will also prepare agendas for the Central Working Committee  Meeting scheduled for Monday.
