One held with Rs 81,000 fake bank-notes in capital

KATHMANDU: Police have busted a fake bank-note racketeering leading to the confiscation of Rs 81,500 fake bank-notes.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police from Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, seized Rs 49,000 of 1000 denomination and Rs 28,000 of Rs 500 denomination from a room based in Kirtipur.

Earlier, police had arrested 39-year-old Maya Tamang from, Kalanki with Rs 4,500 of 500 denomination.

The woman during an interrogation revealed that there was a bank-note printing press in Kirtipur, said SSP Ashok Singh of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu Police.

Based on the clue provided by the woman, police managed to seize other fake bank-notes from the Kirtipur-based room of 35-year-old Gan Bahadur Lopchan from Rautahat.

Police said they are investing the case after taking 35-year-old Lopchan into custody.
