SC concludes hearing of case against NCP claim, verdict on March 4

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has concluded hearing on the writ petition filed by Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Rishi Ram Kattel claiming that the name NCP belongs to him.

After the then NCP United Marxist Leninist (UML) and UCPN (Maoist) united to form the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Kattel had lodged a complaint at the Election Commission claiming the name for his party.

However, the Commission ruled in favor of the NCP-led Prime Minister KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

After that, Kattel had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on December 7, 2018.

The bench of Justices Bam Kumar Shrestha and Kumar Regmi concluded the hearing.

The apex court will announce the verdict on March 4.
